Hi
On Esato I found that user Wakeelm managed to get his K800 connected to his pc using PAN and use his broadband connection this way The difference with the Device explorer method is that this is easier to use and you need no additional software when your bluetooth drivers are not obsolete Here's is his story: First, setup Bluetooth to work with your phone. You should be using Broadcom (formally Widcomm) software rather than microsoft. Broadcom software is supplied with almost every bluetooth dongle and laptops with built in bluetooth. In my case, I'm using IBM laptop T43 and wedcom 5.0.1 that was preloaded. From "my bluetooth places" add your K800i the normal way. You will find one of the services named "PAN Network Access Point". This you can use to access Internet from your laptop through the mobile internet profile defined in the "Bluetooth Internet" setting under Blue tooth. This is the first part where you can access Internet from your PC through your phone. Using this service will create the data account that you will need later to access internet the opposite way; from your phone through your PC. Take a note of the data account created (probably with the name of your computer) that has the bluetooth icon next to it. ![]() Now create an internet profile on you phone using the data account created above. Add here the proxy, user id, and password that are required to access the internet from your PC (if any). Make this profile the default internet profile. Don't forget to make the default for Java as well. That's all on the phone side. Now go to your PC and open "My bluetooth places". Choose "My bluetooth services" from the bluetooth tasks" menu. You should see now the bluetooth services the PC is offering. Now open the properties for "My network access" service. Now change the type of service offered to remote devices to "Allow other devices to access the internet/LAN via this computer. Last step. Configure your computer to allow sharing the internet. You can use the MS wizard to create a home/office network or manually from your internet network connection whether it is Lan or Wifi and allow the newly created "Bluetooth Network" connection to share the internet. In addition you also can setup the internet connection sharing from the bluetooth drivers of Widcomm, mine is 5.0.1.2500. Open the bluetooth options by rightclicking the bluetooth symbol in the tray and choose advanced cofiguration. Under the Local services tab you can find Network access, doubleclick this one. Check Startup automaticly. Then on the pulldown menu choose Allow other devices to acces the internet/LAN via this computer. This will prepare the internet sharing settings and should work fine. Then click the Configure connection sharing button and wait untill it's ready. Your LAN connection now has a hand under it showing it's a shared connection. On my K800 there was a problem when I connected PAN, it seems to be configured as server rather then client and I can't change this The problem is that your pc has to be the server because it delivers the internet connection, the other way works when you make a PAN connection from your pc, the phone will then act as a modem for your pc. André

On Esato someone got it working and even the built-in browser of the K800 can use bluetooth now
I think that the update service can too and also the RSS reader and blogging should work this way André |

I can't try that because of the little problem with PAN I have with my K800 but I suppose it can because it then simply connects to the internet

Sharing the lan (the broadband source) or bridging the lan and BT should work.
On my K800 I can't choose a bluetooth data connection (my pc's) because of the provider lock ![]() André |

By the way....It doesn't work with K750, only with phones that can be set as a modem, like the k800i....

Maybe a shorter tutorial makes things easier to do
![]()
![]() When you start the standard browser on the phone it will make a bluetooth connection and you'll see the globe. The RSS reader also works well. On your pc you can open the new PAN network icon in the tray and check the status window, this way you know that you're not using gprs data but bluetooth. One little disadvantage of PAN is that you need to change the settings back to gprs when you're traveling ![]() André |

You can connect using the usb cable (connections/USB) but then your pc will use gprs on our phone for internet
Only with bluetooth you can use broadband of your pc on the phone. Using SE device explorer and USB I can start Opera-mini from my pc but it doesn't get an internet connection Also other java applets won't connect this way André |

@ Speedyandre
I can't choose BT Profile too... but there's no provider lock You mean that I have to access the internet the normal way [from phone to pc] once to get this profile? To do this, I have to start the PAN service on my PC, and in the k800 >>settings >> connectivity >> Bluetooth >> Bluetooth Internet >> and here select my provider's profile? And than what? Access the net with the browser? Or its supposed to connect when I start the PAN service? I mean, what do I have to do in order to use the service to create the profile? In the Blusoleil software there's an option >> My Bluetooth >> Device Properties >> Device Type {desktop // laptop // server} is there any difference anyway? I can see there in blusoleil >> status when I start PAN my phone's role goes to MASTER Is there something to do? I'm breaking my head trying this PAN thing =( please help! P.S. Do I have to set up IP in bluetooth adapter? Share LAN? |

Hey Adnane
please tell me how you did it! I have the same situation... Pre-paid SIM. I just can't get the BT profile... I don't know waht do I have to do to get this... [on pc, on my phone.. what?] And, did you have to share your LAN? Did you bridged LAN and PAN? Set any IP anywhere? By the way, which Bt stack do you have? Widcomm [Broadcomm/Anycomm] or IVT Bluesoleil? And your BT Dongle? Man, I really want to make this work

Hey, I think I'm almost there
First of all UPDATE YOUR PHONE SOFTWARE. I finnaly got an update available from SEUS. Updated my phone, and guess what, the ****ing BT profile was there. Its simple as said it was, when you start the PAN service on your bluetooth software , and than check under >>Data Communication >>Data Accounts >> ^^[your PC name] So now i set the Internet Profile, and Java Profile, bridge LAN and PAN.... and nothing =[ My bluetooth software has the option under >> Work Mode to -> Set up Bluetooth Personal Area Network with an option to Enable DHCP server or -> Access LAN Network with an option LAN Adapter : [Here appears my Enthernet Adapter connection] *and when bridged LAN+PAN [appears the bridge connection as selectable] What do I select? Set up the PAN with DHCP server or Access LAN thru Ethernet Adapter/or bridge and select here the bridged connection? If I share the internet connection, it's the PPPoE to share or the LAN? Selecting the bluetooth PAN adapter connection as local connection? [should I post some print screens?] |

4/Also you can set the "My network access service" starting mode to automatic. Setup your Handset: 1/ Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Activate. 2/ Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > My devices > new device > add your PC ( and give it a name of your choice / mine is "Ordinateur"). 3/ Menu > Settings > Internet Settings > New profile > Name : "Test" Connect using : "Ordinateur" Here the name of you BT device (PC) will be displayed as a data account SO YOU MUST CHOOSE IT 4/ Menu > Settings > Internet Settings > Select "Test" as default connection 5/ Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > powersave > on. That's all. (just forget BT profile, bridged LAN/PAN and IP setting ) ![]() You can now use ur phone's Internet services (BT connection will be activated automatically)
