How set mp3's as ringtones on my branded phone

Step 1.

Download
and install the Sony Ericsson Digital Rights Management Packager

Step 2.
Select a mp3 you would like to protect. In this example we will use a small mp3 sound effect.
(Right click save target/link as) http://lasyk.addr.com/joannak/ohoh.mp3

Step 3.
Run DRM Packager
Start->Programs-> Sony Ericsson-> DRM Packager-> DRM Packager
Go to File, add files and select the mp3 you saved from the link above.

Step 4. (Configuration)
Go to Options -> Configuration -> and select combined delivery and click OK

Step 5 (Rights)
Go to Options -> Rights
Please fill in the following information:
Content ID: myForumExample
@ : Lasyk.net
Enable right = checked
Start time checked and date set to December 7, 2008
End time checked and date set to December 6, 2009
click OK

Step 6
Creating the dm file(s)
Click on Create DRM content
Now you can send this file to your device , you will be able to set this mp3 as a ringtone

Important note : The mp3 is saved using the dm extension. You must send ohoh.dm and not ohoh.mp3
Output

ohoh.dm

* The values used in this example are imaginary

if ur using a mac with osX its dead simple. Just need a bluetooth dongle. There is a bluetooth setup assitant where u pair the phone and then u can just send stuff to the phone from the BT menu.

On my O2 branded phone. I put the MP3 into the MP3 folder on the memory card
using a card reader.

Then on the phone I go to file manager, SOUNDS.
scroll to the mp3, press MORE then USE then SET AS RINGTONE

Much easier than on Voda it seems,.,

Yup, it's because Voda want you to use Voda Live and pay £2.50 per ringtone! Their Voda Live software blocks you from setting personal mp3s as ringtones, Bandits!
