This one's been going on for a while :-( I bought a HBH-60 Bluetooth headset to use with my T68i in the car and every time i spoke to someone the conversation went along the lines of 'u sound like ur underwater' 'ur breaking up' (all a bit analog really)
I had the headset replaced - same problem
Software update - same problem
I gave up and bought a new T610 - same problem
Has anyone got any ideas. Its driving me mad and the shop I bought the headset from are getting a bit sick of me.
I have a deisel 4x4 and the problem gets worse the faster I go.
I did have a really cheap BT headset before I bought the SE one and it seemed to work fine. Is there a prob with the SE ones? It cost well over double the price of the cheap one (which had a charging problem) My new phone seems to be software version 1 :-( Thanks 02

check the firmware of the headset which can be found on the headset itself (NOT BOX) its white, and its near the edge of the boom. I've heard of this problem from R1C and down. Try gettin one thats R1E or better yet, go for the HBH-65

I have the exact same headset and T610 and I get a lot of static noise especially with the volume at max.
I spoke to the shop people and they sort of made me understand that I should not expect the same quality from a bluetooth headset as I normaly get from a regular headset.
I have a loud car too so already its hard to hear when the volume is at max. no point in even using it if I have to put the volume down.
ProtoMan AP you say R1C and down, does that mean that R1A headsets are good or bad?

They are bad/ok. You should try to get a headset with the latest firmware on it to ensure maximum quality

I'm trying to get the firware upgrade for the handset. But its not easy where I live to get to the place that does it. I'll let you know what happens if I do. I got so frustrated tonight I even considered buying a different kind of headset.
I do have all of the volumes on max. I'll try turning them down and see if that helps.
I just wish that the box had a sticker on saying 'caution may not work' ;-) I too have had the shop telling me that there is nothing wrong with it because it works fine when I'm not in the car. Not sure where I stand legally on that one because its not fit for the purpose I bought it for.
I did suggest that they should maybe supply me with a different one but the shop owner wouldn't agree to that. I may try mailing Sony Ericsson.

Sorry i was slightly misunderstanding there. The firmware on the headset? If it is an older version can it be upgraded.
The nightmare deepens!!!
I love being an unwitting beta tester ;-)
I was being ironic by the way

Actually no...it cannot, you are just going to have to buy/exchange for a newer one. Another way to make sure you have a new firmware is to pair it with your T610, go to accessories, click HBH, and after 5 or so seconds, it will display the headset firmware

The firmware is R1C :-(
The shop won't entertain changing the headset as they say it works.
I rang SE today and was totally astounded by the response.
I had to ask half way through the call is the girl was having a laugh on her last day.
She told me that Bluetooth headsets don't work in cars and I should have bought a car kit.
Handsfrees are only used by people walking around who need to go from office to office or so they can keep their phones in their pockets to avoid them being snatched.
I suggested that maybe the box should carry a sticker telling consumers that the headsets don't work in cars and she said 'its not policy to tell you what a product can't do.'
For example we don't tell you you can't use our phones in hospitals or aircraft but you can't.
She then said you wouldn't buy a jumper and complain it kept you too hot in the summer.
I said I wouldn't buy a t-shirt to keep me warm in the winter because t-shirts aren't expected to do that.
Handsfree headsets, as far as I am concerned are designed to provide hands free communication with your phone and mine clearly doesn't work.
It was around about this point in the conversation I had to pinch myself to check I wasn't dreaming.
I discovered that unfortunately I wasn't and continued by asking does this mean I'm stuck with a useless headset and she said well you can always use it when you are not in the car.
She then suggested I write to customer services explaining my problem and maybe suggest that SE add stickers to thier boxes saying 'may not work in a car'
At this point I couldn't work out whether to laugh or cry.
I said so you are saying that there is nothing I can do to solve this and she agreed that there wasn't.
So I am doing the only thing I know to do. Making everyone aware that SE will be no help at all in solving problems but if you need a comedy moment in an otherwise mundane day give them a call. They won't be able to help but they will give you a damn good laugh.
So here I am back to having technolgy that doesn't deliver and not really feeling like a satisfied customer.
I'm copying this to customer care in the off chance I got the cleaner on the end of the phone by accident and there are some people from Sony Ericsson who are interested in the fact that one of their customers has a problem with their hardware that needs to be solved. I live in hope.

Hmmm...my headset works just great when i'm driving around!! I sometimes i have a hard time hearin it since my speakers are super loud!! :D :D 8) My brother uses an HBH 35 and that seems to work even better, since the boom is closer to his mouth and the earpiece seems to be more "in" the ear

I purchased an HBH-60 and had the same problems
My only solution was to... sell it on eBay and buy the older HBH-20 and all is just great.
Waiting now to upgrade to the new HBH-200

Don't get stucked on SE headset products. Try buying one of mobile headsets of Logitech. I have it and it works great. Battery lasts to 1 week with many conversations, the sound and reception is great... I've bought it through connections for 90$.

I have the Jabra Freespeak BT-200 headset, and I don't know how anyone could use it with the volume turned up to its max! It might work for you, though. ;) The gel earbud goes right in your ear so external noise should be less of an issue.
