With all my new phones, i plug it in for 4 hours, unplug it, and plug it in again for 1 more hour. And all my phones work just fine, and have pretty long battery life.

Hi guys,

I've several questions:

1. Does the phone will show any complete message if the battery is fully charged?
2. My T610 only lasts for 1 day (light usage), any idea why? FYI, i just charge the hp for 4 hrs when i get it.
3. I read this post from http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/209863-1.html but not sure whether we should do it or not? Any opinion?

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.

We would usually recommend you charge the handset for 16 hours for the first initial charge, then all charges after that for around 3-4 hours only.

If you ever let the battery run down completely you will always need to perform another initial charge again, with the handset switched off to preserve the charge

Please contact the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre again if we can assist you further.

4. What does "Optimized Charging" actually means? Does it means that charging with the hp switch on is better than when it is off?

Well, if you like a specific guideline, i guess if SE says so, then you should follow it. But really doubt 16 hours. Most i ever charged was overnight and thats like 10 hrs...MAX, usually just 6 hours.

What does "Optimized Charging" actually means?

It means...Optimized Charging...LOL, i just think it says that because its charging the best it can with the phone on? Beats me!

If the phone is charge at "Optimized" state when it is on then why does SE ask us to switch it off for the first charge?

Any idea?

To ensure maximum battery life too? I mean, concentrate on charging first?! Charge and use up power at the same time seems bad idea?? Anywayz, i think it charges faster when the phone is off since it uses less power

I just got the phone and when I am on the first charge, the screen says charging then the screen goes blank and no more red light! is this still charging? should i just leave it for the next couple of hours?

If you want to follow SE advise, just leave the phone charge for 16 hours whether the red light is on or not.

You will also need to do the same thing if you use the phone and the battery is fully empty/discharge in the future.

It will be a pain in the *** if you have only one phone, 8)

Hey guys,

I just got this reply from SE regarding first charge.

------------------------xx--------------------------------------
Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.

The initial charge should be for 16 hrs. If you did not do this please completely discharge the phone and do this charge for 3 times (let the phone go dead, then rechrage for 16 hrs). This should achieve maximum battery life.

Please contact the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre again if we can assist you further.

I'm very concern about this as my phone which is using firmware R1L013 does have a very short battery life, only one day under light usage.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.

Have the phone turned off whist on charge. No the red light just means that the phone has sufficient charge, the phone will keep charging even after the light went off.

The firmware wouldnt effect the battery life.

Question:
Subject: Re: Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre, Case : 40270420
Dear Sir/Madam,

Should i do it with the phone switch on or off? Anyway, after 3/4 hours,
usually the red light
at the joystick will go off, does this means that the phone has stop charging?

Currently, i'm using this version of firmware : R1L013 and i can only
achieve 1 days of standby
although it is under light usage. I hope it is not because of the firmware.

Thanks.

Best Regards,
Iskandar.
