The best messenger client i found is UltraIMpro that connects to msn its way better then the official windows live mobile messenger as UltraIMpro even supports peer to peer file sharing of upto 250kbs and seems to be more user friendly to and if your lucky you might even find the cracked version hehe ;) but it aint free to use

choose phone and go to the messenger section. Go to the last page and there you'll find it.

From your w850i default sonyericsson browser, try going to http://mobile.live.com

Then select msn beta. The chatting is fast and you can even group chat as on normal msn.
