I selected the serial port as manual says.. but don´t work.

In my Device explorer I can see all my applications including Opera Mini.
But when I start the opera it says that i have to configure a gprs/3g account.

Doesn't Opera-mini first ask to test the connection before it continues?
If this test fails then you're adviced to configure your connection.

I think that the security settings still scramble the data so it won't work with bluesoleil I'm afraid :(
Maybe you can use Widcomm 5.0.1.801 drivers instead, they are better.

Hi... well I can do it!!!! Is working perfectly with bluesoil... I just rerbot the phone settings... and all is working fine.
I made a backup with My Phone Explorer...and I dont have any problem.
So that was my solution.

I never had a K700 but I suppose you can add a new data account (under connections\datacomm) with your pc's IP in it and then choose this account on wap and internet settings if available on the K700.

I still can´t connect. I can open the minibrowser from my pc and i can navigate on the internet from my phone using gprs, but not my broadband.

Do I have to make any special configuration on my profile to use my broadband?

I've explaned this more then one time (I'm going to talk like Kobrakaan :p ).
Make a new data account and give it the same IP as your pc has, the rest in this account can be left unchanged.
Else it will try to use the gprs settings and that won't work when you connect from the pc.

Hello, i have a sony ericsson w300i , i downloaded the java...and everything and i connected the phone, i made a new profile with only the ip of my computer and started opera mini from the computer, it begins to test my connection and then fails...it says i don`t have a network connection. i have a pppoe internet connection with username and password...that means i have a lan ip and a dynamic internet ip...i tried with both of them...but it still didn`t work...can anyone help me , pls

If you have a firewall it may block the connection port that Opera-mini needs, else make sure that you choose this data account also on internet settings and java settings on your phone.
I suppose you have the serial networking item selected in Device explorer.
Check in the bluetooth settings on your pc that the connection (serial port) is not secure.
The newest Opera-mini is 2.0.4509 at this time ;)

Hi, I followed the steps in this tutorial and after turning my phone off and on a few times, I can now browse via my broadband connection, cheers! But, when ever the connection is idle i.e. I'm not downloading anything, the proxy connection times out and is lost, the only way to restore the connection is by restarting the Device browser and refreshing. I've tried setting the timeout.tool to '0' and I always disable the desktop remote control, but I still lose the link when idle.

Also is there a way to create shortcut keys (i.e. CTRL + ALT + 2) for the Desktop HID in the phone settings, so I can launch other destop shortcuts for java apps like Google Maps, or do I have to create my own HID profile?

I've made a new (and simple) HID that can be used to start a load of applets from your phone.
The shortcuts work with ctrl+shift+1 to 9 for key 1 t/m 9 en ctrl+alt 1 to 6 for key *, 0, #, vol up, vol down en camera button.
Press nav key = Enter (couldn't capture that :D)

No, I think that the real modem connection speed (gsm or gprs) is even lower but the com port (conn. between pc and gsm) has this speed.
The only way to get higher speeds is to use (gsm) edge (238Kb/s) if your provider and phone both support it or 3G (384Kb/s).
T-mobile has hsdpa (3.5G) giving 1,8Mb/s speeds :D

I have both :P, but my sony ericsson is telcel. Im living in one of the biggest cities in México, the one with fastest growing because have a lot of industries. But the knowledge its so poor, i went in the past to the biggest telcel stores and customer attention centers, and nobody knew about this phone capabillity.

I got this phone from my brother who works on telcel and he investigated a lot to contract this service. I have an enterprise plan, hopefully its cheapest :D than a normal one. I got my connection using the software that comes with the cell phone.

In my settings i have:
Connect using: GPRS internet

I watched all my internet options and i think there is nothing to change to speed it up.

I dont have EDGE as option on my cell phone :S.

I think you can find Edge under the mobile networks settings, maybe you can activate Edge there.
My K800 has an option to use gsm or gsm and 3G, maybe you can choose gsm with Edge or only gsm.

GPRS Internet (the one is selected)
GPRS Wap
MMS GPRS
PS account 4
HSCSD
CSD

I can create an account at this step, i and for "account type" i can choose GPRS data or GSM data. I choose GSM data, reconnect again and it was still 115.2 K.

Haha cable/internet/adsl is very common here, only in small villages (about 5% of all houses) have no cable or adsl ;)

I am connected to it via COM8, BS Serial Port service.

hey ppl i ve been trying to download the two files sony ericsson SDK and JDK since 3 days now..both the sites dont support resume and the download never gets completed..my bandwith is just 40kbps..is there any other site which i can get these files frm??or can someone upload them to a better file sharing site or maybe post the files in smaller pieces?? any kinda help wld be appreciated

Update:
I thought that it is working because when I test the connection it says that I have a working network connection. But when I try to browse, it is giving me errors.

An Error occurred.

I'm using w800 and I don't have any data accounts set.

2nd Update:
*Test with Opera Mini 2.0 says that it it connected but browsing gives error.
*I tried updating the Worldmate Lite, it did update the exchange rates and weather.

What could be wrong is it the Opera-Mini?

I can connect to the internet fine, but once I disconnect from the Connection Proxy, I cannot use the internet again. My bluetooth connection seems to be working fine since I can browse the phone, I can start applications from my Device Explorer, but I can't get Opera to connect to the internet.

The only work around is to turn off and restart my phone.

There's gotta be an easier way than that. Has anyone found a fix for this problem? Please let me know

I've seen this post before and I followed it but still can't connect with Opera-Mini. Other midlets work like mybrowser but not opera mini.

i ve tried every thing possible and i obviously use a download manager..but the sdk link just gives up after 15% and the download restarts..i tried to find some other site where the file might be hosted but i cldnt find it anywhere..and as the JDK is on a filesharing site i cannot use a download manager for downloadin it.. im not just being lazy i ve been lookin everywhere fer a solution..

the SDK comes from just one source and doesnt support resume..:(

I have a W700i. I'm still unable to make opera mini to use my pc's broadband connection. My PC is on a corporate LAN and accesses the net through a proxy. Does it have any effect? Or I need to enter the proxy adress somewhere in my phone or in preferences under wtk2/wtk1 subfolder of Java ME SDK for CLDC program group. I did try with setting a data communication profile say 'A' with my computer's IP(172.16.11.212) filled in and all other fields left blank.Then in Internet settings the follwoing info : connect using: A , Internet mode:http proxy :Yes Proxy Address: 172.16.14.116 Port No: 8080. This proxy address is local LAN proxy. Are these settings unncessary or I'm doing something wrong?...the following is the log from connection proxy:

On starting opera through Device Explorer or through the Mybrowser Link with correct ID ( 9) and Entry Point( 65545 ) settings in the target field. I have disabled windows firewall altogether. Bluetooth security settings turned off. Serial networking enabled in device explorer.

My phone is connected to my PC through bluesoleil with serial port service enabled on port COM8. The connection proxy shows my phone connected at COM8.

I have also tried making MyBrowser work. But to no avail.

i found the solution to my problem and it finally works!!!

in the data comm setting put in your ip address and DNS server address

now go to whatismyip.com and note down the Proxy Server IP Address

the address you have noted down should be entered in the internet settings>internet profile>proxy address

after doing the above and restarting my phone i could connect...

theres a need to restart the phone every time you disconnect :(

I have downloaded all what is needed, it was working friday,
now when i try to connect, it starts to connect on the connection proxy, opera starts up on my phone, but then says i do not have a working internet connection on my phone?
Tells me to go to opera.com
i haven't changed anything from when it was working friday??
Any ideas?

Well,, I've gone through the entire thread - threadbare!! I have tried everything mentioned here.. from installing and reinstalling all softwares to trying all permutations and combinations of PC's IP address, Router assigned DHCP address, DNS server address, with and without data comm, internet and java settings, restarting the phone (and the PC as well) umpteen number of times. Yes, the serial networking option is also ticked and there is no problem in the USB contact. I have tried with two different computers - one with DSL connection and the other with dial-up. My last week entirly has gone in this. (suffciently frustrating). AND IT IS STILL NOT WORKING. I would say some of us are lucky who have got it working and some are plain unfortunate. So, is there anybody who can actualy help us unfortunate trivial beings???

Its only worked on the first time, only startup the Opera Mini via DeviceExplorer... After that, no work more...
