Just kidding, depending on your Bluetooth drivers/software you may need to start a Bluetooth serial port service before starting the proxy or set it up to connect automatically when windows accesses the com port.
Or Windows firewall could be blocking the ports, If i remember correctly the first time i did this the Firewall poped up and asked if i wanted to allow the port numbers or continue blocking(or something like that).

Wow, this is doing my head in haha. All I want to do is use MSN whilst in bed! *is lazy*
So I installed all the software, read the tutorials and every post in the forum and I still can't manage to get it sorted :$
I start OperaMini from the device explorer, it runs but never connects. I tried making a new data comms/internet profile with my computer IP (I tried the IP of my router and of my PC also) and had no luck at all. I'm using a SE K750i (which I just got and LOVE). Can anybody help me out? I'm using the DCU-80 cable or whatever it's called - USB.
Cheers

: dnt know
Also installed already the whole bunch .. (i used it for developing java-apps ...) ..
However the Bluetooth-Connection works ... can up/download/install/debug ...
created the profiles an tryd all the ips i have (only 2 *g*, 1 bluetooth-ip-net and 1 dialup) ... started opera-mini via devex. an noticed that it looks like the theres nothing transmitted via bluetooth for this request... (se-bluetooth-data-counter doesnt change) .. the Java debugging says "No Connection" .oO( cant get a connection over bluetooth )
so .. profiles are ready and networking in devexp. is enabled .. restartet everything some times .. but the connection request doesnt get tunneld .. there happens also nothing when i enabled proxy and set it up to an ip .. these requests also dont produce any bluetooth-tunnel-traffic ... so it seams like the phone is not able to tunnel these tcp/ip-requests through bluetooth ... now its a w550i with newer firmware an i started asking my self if its possible that the w550i have to support Bluetooth-Networking ... but i dont think thats the reason cause this service is missing exept it only exist in older firmwares  mhm so ... the big question is .. why doesnt the phone tunnel the requests .. profiles are created and selected .. all other profiles are deleted (to prevent false-postiv) .. any idea?
the big thing that bugs me really up is that it looks like it must be a setting in the phone .... cause i think the devex. already tells the apps to redir. the traffic.. (enabled networking) .. so this is very ...
mhm perhaps it works with the SEPM .. (when its released) ..
naaahhh however till someone have an idea i will take a look an the devexp. libs about networking-tunneling ... *hmpf*
and sorry for my bad english ... its been a long time since....
just wen i start downloadin from opera mini....its gives error and the application shuts down...
y is dat? i have been told that one can download from opera mini

ok i set the serialproxy to debug-level-high mhm theres a strange message i think:
[04.07.06 14:24] SLIP.isReader.run() read 18 bytes: Ŕ[04.07.06 14:24] SerialProxyController: socket accepted on port: 6079
mhm strange looks like data-get-transmitted via bluetooth but the ConnectProxy doesnt count it ... but after all the Data-Looks like **** ...
dunno ... atleast the DevExp. doesnt do any network-activity...

Maybe the bluetooth connection is marked secure in your bluetooth settings, try unsecured instead.
Also a firewall (xp default for network connections) can block your IP.
Sometimes the connection speed in the SE proxy is set to high, try 230400.

The #s differ on each phone, so you'd better use list.bat to get the #s and change them.
Get the properties of list.bat and check the Find target option, you should find the ejava.exe and then apply the changes you made.
Else let explorer find the ejava.exe for you.

Hey, I posted on this a good while back with problems and then finally got it sorted. Well since then I got a new hard drive for my laptop and reinstalled all the software and stuff and configured my firewall like I had to do before, but again I'm having problems :S I continually get the message -
You do not have a working network connection. Please visit http://help.opera.com/mini with your desktop browser for instructions.(error:3.0.10:80/).
I have tried everything from setting up new internet profiles mentioned to configuring my firewall to trying different ports and different baud rates, but nothing seems to make it work (double checked serial networking is checked). I'm really confused this time as it worked fine before, and I've only updated firmware since and got new hard drive :S Can anyone give me any suggestions?? Just ordered a bluetooth dongle and I really want to use the internet wirelessly at home!

Someone in this topic made a new data account with his pc's local IP in it and then it worked for him :)
If you can start applets with device explorer then the only problem probably is a missing path to your pc's internet connection.

Ok, so I've read through the whole thread and also a similar thread in another site and still can't get the thing to work. I have the w810i.
Sorry for the long post, but I am really going crazy here, I've tried everything I can think of. : dnt know
The Connection proxy connects fine to the phone and I can start the opera mini from the Device explorer. But every time I test the connection on the opera mini I get that 10.0.1:80 error when testing connection.
I am using the usb cable and the Connection Proxy is in COM7 at 57600.
One BIG doubt I have is, what port am I supposed to have for the proxy in the Internet profile of the phone? The default in the phine config is 8080, I have tried that and also other ports the Connection Proxy shows to be using in the log.
I have tried many things, this is my current config:

I just tried using my router's ip as you suggest and tried different flavors of it too, no luck....
what phone/config are you using?
any other ideas or possible things I might be setting up wrong?
what about the proxy port setting in my phone? should I leave that at 8080?
the Connection proxy seems to be using a bunch of 608x ports...
Anyways I tried that too with no luck
I've spent my whole weekend just trying this.....
hopefully someone can help,
thanks
i dunno wot happens to all ppl out there when connectin fon with pc. i've been usin my internet conn through my fon from da last yr, and yet i havent found any prob with neither w550i or w810i. so lets make it simple tubrody.
1) delete all your existing data accounts and internet profile from your phone (you dont need anything to use the internet via Opera)
2) make sure that you have installed SE J2ME SDK properly
3) now connect your phone through usb cable
4) select phone mode
5) now open "connection proxy" from j2me folder
6) go to settings and select either "com 8" or "com 9" with "921600" or any baud rate.
7) click on OK and then CONNECT
(your phone should now be connected to your pc)
8) now open "devise explorer" and make sure that there is a tick mark beside "serial networking" if not, then turn it on (dont forget to restart devise explorer after turning it on)
9) lastly double click opera mini in your devise explorer to start the app
your phone should now be able to use your pc or laptop's internet connection
NOTE : once you use opera mini and disconnect your phone from the pc, you have to restart your phone to work it for the next time you use it. and if you find any error at the first place then turn off ur phone and then turn it on again. so everytime you want to use the PC internet connection you have to restart your phone to work errorfree.
I hope it helps tubrody

ok, so I did all that, now I am no loger getting the error, but Opera mini starts "processing" and then I get popup error on the desktop coming from the device explorer saying: "Device Explorer detected a hanging connection proxy and closed it. Restart by refreshing device information.
(You may change the timeout.tool property in the sdkme.properties file)"
Now I tried both a higher and a lower number in the timeout.tool property in the sdkme.properties file but still got the same error.
Any more ideas? I feel I am getting close...
thanks
hmmm.......i think you have to attach your cable to ur phone as well as ur usb port properly. probably the error occured due to loose attachments.
if dats not the prob, then reduce ur baud rate to 57600 from "connectionproxy" and undo any modifications dat u have made to sdkme.properties file.

If you are using the usb cable make sure you are using the right com port, other people were having similar problems earlier in the thread.

You don't have to restart the phone unless bluetooth hangs. You can test bluetooth by sending a pic to your pc (using obex) or use HID remote, if this works then bluetooth is still running fine.
You also can disconnect the serial bluetooth connection from your bluetooth driver and then reconnect it.
If all this doesn't work then restarting the phone is the way to go because sometimes the phone's bluetooth stack gets unstable, with older firmwares this is more likely to happen then when using the most recent firmware ;)

I was sleeping again :p
Because I've got bluetooth I don't use the usbcable unless I want to charge the phone, so I don't know about a hanging connection when using the usbcable.
It's probably the same serial port in the phone that makes the connection hang.
When I loose the internet connection and bluetooth still works I simply restart Opera-mini and then it connects again ;)

so i save on other location it can be saved but whn i double clink on the minibrower.Ink it says
"the drive or network connection that the shortcut "minibrowser.Ink" refers to is unavailable.Make sure the disk is properly inserted or the network resourse is available, and then try again."

erm okie i found out that the SDK 2.2.4 has a different path name
so i change the path name
so the minibrowser.Ink can target to C:\sony.... bla bla.....\bin\ejava
then i use list.bat n found out the id n entry point
so i open the shortcut n edit the target part in the end there afta
....\bin\ejava.exe start <id><entrypoint> s
correct?
but then whn i open opera with SDK still cant any idea?
whn i open opera with SDK den i use the phone to enter google search or wadeva it will come out smtg asking me wheater to allow aplication to connect den i press yes it will say connection not working smtg like that...
btw im using usb to conect to pc i will get a bluetooth adapter soon but i would like to ensure that this could use befor i get 1

Correcting the path is ok, so it can find the software now :)
If the connection still doesn't work then you may need to make a new data profile on your phone with your pc's IP in it, the rest can be left empty.
Then go to internet and java settings on the phone and let them point to this new data profile.
This way the internet gateway can be found, else Opera-mini tries to use an existing data account.

Device explorer makes a log of what happens, can you copy it and show it here?
Maybe some tcp or udp port is closed and blocks the internet packets ....
If you have a firewall then maybe it blocks some needed ports.

I've heard from someone that the connection is more stable when you setup a new data-account.
In my K750 there is one allready because in the beginning I thought it was needed to get it all working.
apn = empty
username and password = empty
IP is my pc's network IP
Other fields are defaults
In the internet- and java settings I point to this new data-account.
Another advantage of this is that my phone can't use gprs when I don't want it to.

thats a great tip...
i've been looking for a way to block it from going to the web... but never remembered this one. Its now working fine
Thanks

It seems that it can't get the serial connection running, maybe things work better if you change to a lower usbspeed on your pc, choose usb1.1 in stead of usb2.0 (settings are in bios of your pc, press DEL when starting up).
This could give problems with other usb devices, they may be recognized and installed as new found devices :o
Else I can't think of what the problem is, maybe the cable makes a poor connection due to dirty contacts on it ....

Please tell what works (using BT) and what doesn't :)

The stuff with the shortcuts is made to be able to start applets from your phone, not from your pc with Device explorer ;)
To get this working you first make the HID thing work (SE remote control) and then you can start things on your pc from your phone.
HID also can control your pc, the joystick moves the mouse on your pc.
My idea was that's quite useless to sit in front of your pc and then start applets on your phone using device explorer.
It's more fun to be somewere else and then do the same from your phone :)
It depends on your bluetooth drivers if your pc can accept HID commands without first manually setup a HID connection from your pc.
The bluetooth software lets you make a HID connection to your phone manually and then installs HID stuff in XP when it was not there yet.
The new 5.xx Widcomm drivers and BT2.0 Toshiba drivers can accept HID commands from your phone even when a HID connection is not present.
To get all this working you have to configure minibrowser.lnk on your desktop by inserting the numbers you can find when you run list.bat.
All what list.bat does (when Device explorer can connect) is listing the numbers of the applets on your phone in a dos prompt window.
You then can write them down or print them for later use.

That's strange, if find target works, then it should be no problem.
Maybe you can change ejava to ejava.exe :)
I've added list1.bat to the files, it creates list.txt on the desktop so you can copy and paste the numbers from list.txt.
When you open list.txt in Wordpad all applets are displayed like in the dos box.
Notepad puts all on one line and makes it difficult to read ;)

List1.bat (http://home.zonnet.nl/highend/list1.bat)
It's on the same location as my other files ;)
Maybe Kobrakaan can add it to his startpost and add the comments about getting the numbers in a text file on the desktop :)
The only difference according to list.bat is that I added a command to put the numbers in a text file.
When you run List1.bat on the desktop the last text file will be overwritten.
