I have also downloaded some games and see that they can actually connect to the internet to do multiplayer functions. Would this work with this concept?

I did, but it just says processing and then gives the error -
Could not open connection to server (error: 14.0.43:90/).
Confusing : dnt know
Maybe you forgot to enable "Serial Networking" in Device explorer.
You need to start Opera-mini from your pc, else Opera-mini can't make a serial networking connection to your pc.

you start it from the SDK interface in the left hand panel it will show all the java apps and games you have installed you double left click on opera in the sdk and it will load it on the mobile and start it :)
at the minute the remote hid and bat files are missing from the guide so you have to start it on the computer first then you can use it :)

I don't know why the files are gone, I'll post my original files here :)
minibrowser (http://home.zonnet.nl/highend/minibrowser.lnk)
list.bat (http://home.zonnet.nl/highend/list.bat)
desktop HID (http://home.zonnet.nl/highend/Desktop.hid)
All the HID stuff also works with other java applets, like some messenger applets if they are not limited to use gprs only.
With my desktop HID you can start 2 applets from your phone, if you want to start more applets you can make your own HID for your phone.

Thank you for your excellent contribution to the Sony Ericsson community: wrshp :
I think that the proxy tool should be more widely used and prmoted by Sony Ericsson for the phones that don't have Bluetooth Pan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_area_network) support.
... A lite version of the SDK that does not need the full SE and SUN SDK will be published soon:cool:

I like that, let me know when it comes available :)
About SE, on the developers forum they didn't know about the internet gateway using the proxy and a java browser :D
Finally new SE phones like the K610 have PAN support (I've read it in the white papers), I think it's a shame that SE is so slow to implement it in new phones, also a2dp (for stereo bluetooth headsets) has been available on other brands and SE has it at last on some new phones now.

Just wanted to know that will this work fine if i don't have bluetooth dongle on my pc. i just have the usb cable. i have downloaded all the files mentioned. but i want to know is it possible to use them without the bluetooth connection and using them with usb cable.

Yes, all this works also with the usbcable or infrared.
You only need to find out which serial port the usbcable has, my pc uses com3 on the proxy when I connect my phone using the usbcable.

Maybe you don't have a working serial connection.
Before I use the proxy and device explorer I make a serial connection to my phone from the bluetooth drivers (Widcomm or Toshiba).
When using te usbcable the serial connection works by itself and the proxy should connect fine.
In device explorer on the file menu serial connection should be marked.

I think that the manual in the first post tells all you need, it doesn't work different when you have a cable.
The 3 files are only usefull if you want to start the Opera browser from your phone, so you can do what the manual says untill the HID stuff.
If you start it from your pc then you can make a shortcut to the SE Device Explorer if you wish.
The connection problem sometimes happens when the connection speed in the proxy is to high, with my K750 230400 bps (or lower) works fine.
You can change the speed setting by clicking the carved wheel beneath the connect button on the connection proxy.
If it doesn't work you can exit the connection proxy and try again.
The only other reason for not connecting is using the wrong com port, so try another com port while the speed is set correctly.

You can re-install it, but with device explorer you also can rms delete it.
The last option removes it completely from the phone's memory.
Then put off the phone and give it a fresh start, if you then install Opera-mini it may work properly again, else I can't think of a reason it doesn't : dnt know

can it be that opera has compatibilty problems
note that the connection test in help menu says that i have a working connection,
but the problem is still there.
i am using 256k dsl, the dsl line is connected to a seimens Speedstream router.
3 computers are connected thru WLAN (802.11g) to the router. i m using one of them for opera. (only opera fails to work, all the other softwares e.g. eMSN, mobispine, j2memap work fine)

I've heard from someone that the connection is more stable when you setup a new data-account.
In my K750 there is one allready because in the beginning I thought it was needed to get it all working.
apn = empty
username and password = empty
IP is my pc's network IP
Other fields are defaults
In the internet- and java settings I point to this new data-account.
Another advantage of this is that my phone can't use gprs when I don't want it to.

A working connection looks like this:
[Sat May 27 14:21:03 CEST 2006] SerialProxy: Creating TCP/IP Bridge from = 6082 to = 4
[Sat May 27 14:21:03 CEST 2006] SerialProxy: Creating TCP/IP Bridge from = 6081 to = 11

[Sat May 27 14:21:03 CEST 2006] Setting connection state to: CONNECTED
[Sat May 27 14:21:03 CEST 2006] connected
I've seen other W550's being connected :)
Maybe it works better if you first make a serial connection from your bluetooth software and then connect with device explorer ;)

Hi,guys. If someone tryes to make it work on a SE K300i then mark my words: IT WORKS almoust magicaly with a connection to an USB cable(I didn't tryed with an IR device).I have to admit that I had some doubts in the first place 'cause it didn't wanted to connect, but following Andre's guide step-by-step and by changing on my phone the settings in "Data accounts" and "Internet profiles" I can surf the net with Opera Mini.
P.S.:Andre, thanks for opening a new horizon.

I'm glad that it works on a K300i too :p
So the Opera-mini browser is good for small screens, this one is 128x128 pixels.
I think that the data settings should be added in my manual, it enables more phones to use the browser then without it and sometimes the connection is more stable.
Maybe I rewrite the English manual or I append it to my Dutch manual, because the current English manual probably won't be updated.

can anyone tell me how to do that.
i mean how to create HID profile. i have w800i.
please elaborate the steps as i m new to this.:)
sorry man ...gr8 worked that out in 2 mins.
i think that step was not needed even. i started opera with SE device explorer and that's it launched opera mini on my phone and asked to search for internet connection search and said u have a working connection, and i started browsing.

Theoreticaly it should work on small screen size mobiles(e.g.J300i),but since you want to update your guide then alow me to make a small observation: I realized that using the latest Java Development Kit (jdk-6-beta-windows-i586), the Sony Ericsson SDK 2.2.3 didn't wanted to install it self. It gave me the following message "Your Java Development Kit is not compatible with Sony Ericsson SDK 2.2.3", so my next move was to search whitch version will suit and I found on developer.sonyericsson.com that the recomendet version of JDK is 1.4.2.12.In conclusion, for those who will encounter the same problem as I did then try changing the JDK version and above all it's necesary to make some manual settings in your cell phone as well as Andre sugested it,too. Good luck and good surfing, guys!;)

Thanks for the update, in this topic a small SE proxy manager tool was announced.
I've tested it and it works the same as the complete SDK and JDK setup, but without installing the whole bunch ;)
You only have to install a java runtime environment with it and then it runs fine.
So I think I'll wait untill the small package is available, this makes it much easyer to install : wrshp :
The older jdk can be found here (https://sdlc4e.sun.com/ECom/EComActionServlet;jsessionid=8CAA618A12CAED5E36F41 9C186CCB021) (first line windows download) :)

SE proxy manager tool? This is new to me! Let's see if I understand correctly: instead of installing SDK and JDK, I install this small program and it does the same thing or it's making only a bridge connection between the PC and the cell phone? If only the last one is true, then without an integrated phone browser/manager in the SE proxy manager tool, I wont be able to handle it (or at least not without some help:) ). Btw: can you post a link to the manager tool that you have tested? I surely would like to take peek inside of it. ;)
