My K800 is unbranded too. The internet profiles and java are set to work with the bluetooth connection, the broadband connection is shared and the bluetooth PAN connection is also enabled with this ip: 192.168.50.1 but it's not working (Opera or the phone browser).I have tried with Widcomm 5.x and Bluesoleil 2.3.0.0 but no luck. Everything else is working like HID, OBEX, etc...

(Finally) Working
W810i
Bluetooth (Sitecom dongle, prog: Bluesoleil)
Asus M6ne Notebook
Windows XP Home Edition

Tired of the 'Hanging Connection', not being able to find the right COM port. I used my W810i, but I'm sure other models will respond likewise to this guide. Note that the language in the pictures are Dutch, as I'm from the Netherlands. Anyhow.
For Bluesoleil users (and perhaps to Widcomm as well), here's what to do:

1. Download and install JDK and SDK. See 1st post of this thread.
2. On your phone :t610 icon : Turn on Bluetooth and Visibility: show.
3. Start Bluesoleil. Connect to your phone.
4. Start service: Bluetooth-service serial port. 4 --> Allow service on phone by clicking yes. If asked for code: 0000 on both phone and pc. If you're tired of this: Go to Bluetooth > My Devices > Your PC or Laptop > More > Allow Connection > Always Allow!

4
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/4.GIF

5. Right-click on your phone's icon 5A and click 'status'. Now you can see to which COM port your usb dongle has been appointed!! 5B In my case, as you can see: COM port 6.

5A
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/5A.GIF

5B
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/5B.GIF

6. Go to device manager in Windows (control panel > system > hardware > device manager) and click Com ports. 6A Now doubleclick the COM port you found in status in Bluesoleil. (In my case that was 6 indeed). Now you can adjust the Baud-rate/Bits per Second for your Port. 6B
Choose one of the following:
9600
14400
28800
38400
57600
115200
230400
460800
921600

Only pick one that matches one of the above.

Also when you click advanced, you can adjust receive and send to low. This might prevent Device Explorer ( where we get in a moment) from not being able to connect. I'm not sure of this! Any comments I'd appreciate.

6A
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/6A.GIF

6B
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/6B.GIF

7. Here we go then. Start Device Explorer. (Start > Programmes > Sony Ericsson > JAVA ME SDK for CLDC > DeviceExplorer)
1. File > Tick Serial Networking! 7A
2. Connection Proxy > Settings: 7B
Port Name: Your Com Port
Maximum Baud Rate: The Baud Rate you've just selected
3. CONNECT!

7A
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/7A.GIF

7B
http://www.admfictorie.nl/pictures/7B.GIF

8. Final Note! Important. Once you have established the connection there is something weird. Namely:
Choose disconnect. Then choose to Connect again. You'll get the following Proxy Error! 'The Proxy could not connect to the handset. Please check your settings'. Beats me as to why that is! Anyway.
No worries. The solution is: Go to BlueSoleil. Disconnect! the Bluetooth-service Serial Port. 8 And establish again. Go to Device Explorer, click connect and Voila, you're back. This is the only way!

Refreshing the Serial Port service does not work. Neither does refreshing in Device Explorer. The latter will only work with an established connection.

Hope it was all clear and if everything went well it should look like this:

After writing the guide above this afternoon I decided to actually try and use broadband on my phone. I downloaded opera mini (.jar and .jad) and put them on my phone.
I first deleted my T-mobile account in order to check that I would really be using my laptops broadband internet.
It worked.

However. It doesn't anymore. After I completed step IV of SpeedyAndre's guide. The installing of step IV went without any concern.
Now I'm wondering. Is it possible that it has anything do with this.

Moreover, how important is the .jad file? Is it of any relevance and should internet also work only with the opera mini jar file?

Would I have to do something with .HID file? Or make an account on my w810i with my laptops IP-adress?

Or would I have to change settings at Network or Internet connection in the Control Panel?

As you see I've no idea.

Connecting to SDK is no problem. But for my phone to reach my laptop's broadband internet seems somehow to've become impossible.

Where's the problem and how to solve?

Help?

:D

@ carlosmariogamez:

I know this problem.

I think, how annyoing though, this will solve it.

Do it in this order.

1. Connect your phone to pc. (usb/infrared/bluetooth).
2. Start connexion proxy > connect.
3. Open device explorer.

Now your phone is connected and you see the files on your phone.
In device explorer. Right click opera mini and select > delete.
Gone. (make sure you have the original opera mini .jad and .jar file ready somewhere)

4. Close both the connection proxy and device explorer.
5. disconnect your phone from your computer.
6. Turn your phone off! And turn it back on. This somehow is important.
7. Conect your phone to the connection proxy again.
8. open device explorer again.
9. In device explorer click FILE (tick serial networking, I assume you already did) and click INSTALL.

Now you have to select your opera mini .jad and .jar files. click OK.
Now Opera mini will be installed on your phone. If the installation worked. Just right click opera mini > start. And I hope internet works again for you.

But maybe only once. And then you have to redo the process.

No, you don't have to reinstall Opera Mini everytime :) .. just restart the phone ..that's the most important !

Hi friend
Try with Opera 2, you can download this version from here (http://www.4shared.com/file/6417134/5e9ca4ef/Opera_Mini_20.html) (Download pass: todose.com), i tried with Opera 3 Advanced but this dont work in my phone, i dont know why but maybe i have ideas about why dont work, with Opera Mini 2 this trick run perfect, if dont work on the first time, you must turn off and turn on your mobile (like me) and enjoy =)

I just flashed my w810i using wotan to the R4e firmware, and it has a rss reader software. I was wondering if it was possible to use the bluetooth to update the rss feeds so that I have something to read when I'm at work etc. Also, it'd be nice to get the updates to my rss when around the house. Has anyone tried this and is there a guide for it?

I made a guide in connectivity to add an RSS feed program to most java equipped mobiles here (http://myforum.lasyk.net/showthread.php?t=30839&highlight=rss) :)

but theres no harm in trying your inbuilt feed if you can connect opera via your bluetooth connection using this guide ... maby see if you can launch the inbuilt rss feed with the SDK in this guide as you would any java application such as opera :)

Ok, I've been trying to get this up and running but I'm still unsuccessful. I'm at the point where I have opera launching from device explorer but it fails to connect to the internet. It says check java settings or contact service provider. I read somewhere that you can change your internet profile, but when I checked the java settings, internet settings, and streaming settings the only accounts I have a choice between are GSM and GPRS. Can someone go into more detail regarding the changing of the internet profile?

I'm using a SE W810i and I have opera mini the latest version from SE website.

I have also modified the numbers for the minibrowser.lnk file on my desktop.

ok i know i have a lot of problems sry about this, but now i've got the minibrowser.lnk problem fixed and i can run Opera Mini wirelessly using bluetooth. I now come up with another problem, when i open Opera Mini either using bluetooth or using data cable, it shows "Allow application to send to the internet". Well, i thought the Wap Broadband tutorial says that u can use ur own house connection and don't have to pay the GRPS rite? How come it still pops up that message on my fone? And also i tried clicking YES and waited a while but it doesn't even connect, if i run the applications straight from my phone then i'll have to pay the GRPS thing but it connects properly whereas if i run it using Device Explorer or using minibrowser it doesn't work even if i press YES to connect to internet......any help?

any1?

help.

I posted the thread/topic but it was moved to a random one and no one answered after so long.

It's about the wap broadband tutorial. I've got the whole stuff setup properly now, i can connect using Device Explorer and using Bluetooth wirelessly as well. The problem is when i try to start a midlet e.g. Opera mini, my fone will pop up a box asking "Allow application to send to the internet?" Well that obviously means i have to pay for the GPRS connection or watever, well is this suppose to happen cuz the wap broadband tutorial uses ur home broadband connection so u don't have to pay GPRS rite? Anyway i click Yes but still couldn't connect to the internet, even if i try to run Opera mini using Device explorer it does the same. If i try to run Opera mini straight from my fone it will work but i have to pay, so any1 know wat the problem is?

hi man, i have exactly the same problem except no one is replying "our" problems, i'm kinda annoyed a little cuz i posted the same question as urs for ages already and it's been move to different threads etc all the time.......i don't know if this helps as i don't have the answer to our problem yet, but first of all u can download the new Opera mini 3.0 from www.opera.com and just find Opera Mini and simply search on Google.

2nd thing is, my Opera Mini actually works if i launch it straight from my fone, i have to pay but it works if i go on internet so basically my data accounts and GPRS settings etc are correct and done properly, but if i try to launch Opera Mini from Device explorer or using bluetooth it doesn't work even if i allow my fone to connect to the internet.

So, if urs is the same as mine i think that's the same problem we're facing, if u can't get ur fone to connect to internet even launch opera mini from ur fone u probably have to setup ur data and gprs account first, u can do that by going to the Sony Ericsson homepage and choose Wap account setup, if u need more help on that just reply.
