Hi. I've tested the streaming radio(MFRadio.v0.9.1) on my k300 and it works. A little recommendation for those who have slow internet connection: it's better to use 32 kbps radios.

P.S.1: In my case I discovered a little problem with the latest opera mini (opera-mini-3.0.6636-advanced-int): when I tried to perform the network test it didn't connect, so I suggest to make the network test with your gsm operator's account. After passing successfully the test exit opera and start it again from device explorer.

P.S.2: It will be a great idea to be able to stream TV on our devices, right?:D

Enjoy browsing the net AND listening to radio. :D

Maybe in a couple of years that'll change. At first everyone thought that the phone couldn't handle listening to high bitrate mp3 music because it couldn't buffer fast enough. It remains to be seen.

Hi Everyone,
I use W550i, Initially I had many hiccup...finally made it to work. From what I could sense, I would say this is not a better method to access WAP.It is not consistent at least for me. If I get struck, I have to close the serial connection, restart the phone and then redo all the process to get it work! There should be a better way, like NAP service or bridging the local area network with that of blue tooth connection. Well…PDA’s use this way of communication. Isn’t this possible in Mobile phones?

OK before I go through all the trouble of trying this thing out on my cell phone can someone please explain what exactly is the point of this??? Is this made so I can connect my laptop to the internet via my mobile or is it just so I can access the internet for free on my mobile device. Still don't see what the advantages of this are so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

@hangman
In device explorer double click opera mini in the list of your apps, and then on your phone it will run and ask if its ok to access the internet (say yes). Yes, you can start it from your phone, but it will only work with your computer's internet connection when starting it from your computer.

@TurntableJUNKY
It's so you can browse the internet on your mobile phone for free via bluetooth or cable. If you have bluetooth you can hang out around your house and use the internet on your phone while watching tv or something.

I just got this thing installed on my phone and when I try to do a Network setup in Opera Mini I get a "Failed to connect to the internet" message. Now I'm pretty certain that this is because I disabled the option to access the internet on my mobile with my provider. So is there any way for me to still be able to set this thing up or do I have to contact my provider and have them turn the internet on again. And if that's the case then what's the point cause I thought this thing was ment for me to access the internet for free. I don't want to pay $0.05/kb so can anyone give me some advice please?

If you can get opera to connect via the SDK then you will note that when you are using it correctly there is no wap/gprs icon above your signal strength icon (normally you get a blue wedge shape when connecting to wap) and a globe next to it (see image below) when you use it normally :)

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/8489/waphi3.jpg

You will not be charged for wap with this guide as you are using your bluetooth serial connection to your computer net connection you should ONLY see your bluetooth icon make the connection and nothing else but normal icons such as signal strength and battery and the bluetooth logo or your current profile in use :)

I don't have a bluetooth radio adapter on my PC yet (I'm planning on getting one very soon) but I'm just trying to get this to work with my USB cable. So I got as far step IV Starting Opera remotely via HID. When I run Opera Mini it goes through the setup but that's when it fail. I get the "Failed to connect to the internet" message.

try starting opera mini directly from the SDK and not a hid :)

bluetooth is worth the hassle and expense as it frees you from being tied to your computer so you can surf the net for free anywhere in range of your bluetooth device :)

call them back and get them to reconnect it and try again and check when you use the guide that only bluetooth is making the connection as per image attached :)

YeA I'm on it. But as far as you know, could it have anything to do with the fact that I disabled internet on my mobile device with my provider. I mean should I get them to reactivate the internet for the set-up part of Opera Mini in my mobile and then once everything is set-up there disconnect the internet again. Or in your opinion should I be able to do the set-up of Opera Mini in my phone without an active WAP connection??? I would think that I don't need an internet connection if I'm trying to get it to work through my broadband...but who knows I could be wrong. Please help, thanks again. Andrej.

I've been trying for the last day to get this to work with my k750i, but I am getting very inconsistant results.

1. Wayfinder Earth connects but nothing else will
2. Wayfinder Earth connects as does IM Here, but Opera Mini doesn't.
3. Now nothing works.

As far as I can tell there is no linking factor to when it works and when it doesn't. When I got IM Here to work, I turned the Windows firewall off, since then I have change nothing, and even after computer and phone restarts, I can no longer get a connection.

Further to this, Wayfinder seems to find a connection with or without the DNS Server inputted as my Router (up until now at least), and IM Here worked when it was in as well (but never used to).

I am totally stumped here, it was working very well an hour ago with using IM Here (sending messages to myself to test it), and since then I have change nothing, restarted several times, and can't get anything to work :(

Edit: Further to this, no data seems to get sent via. the Device Explorer to Opera Mini, but it still does to Wayfinder and IM Here. And YES, I have started it from Device Explorer!

I got everything working, and I thought I'd share a tip on that for anyone else who is getting inconsistancies.

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/8489/waphi3.jpg

As posted on the previous page, take note of the WAP bar above signal, on my phone I had to turn GPRS off and rely on GSM to get that to go away, which may explain some of the inconsistancies...

Edit: IMHere is now working again:D

Edit 2: FINAL TIP - Use Opera Mini 2 advanced (as opposed to v3.0), it works with no problems at all :)

Hi,

i just found that article that gives directions on how to get connected to the internet using broadband connection of my PC.

Before starting installing JDK's, SDK's, etc i would like to ask if its possible to get streaming video to my Z510i (using the embedded video streaming player) and connected via bluetooth --> PC --> broadband connection.

I would appreciate any help!

Finally got it going!!!
can someone PLEASE put some info in the first post about this subject including the FACT that you MUST delete your old internet settings.

That would be fantastic and would help a lot of people out

It's actually running a little slow on my phone but I know it's running off my broadband. One other thing I need to ask.

If you lift the "max baud rate" does it make it perform any faster?

Thanks in advance

Josh (australia)

I'm pretty sure it does lift the speed up
What is the max speed people are running through there K800i's?

I just got a message on the computer and the device hung up. The message on the PC said:

"device explorer detected a hanging connection proxy and closed it. Restart by refreshing device information.

(You may change the timeout by altering the timeout. tool property in the sdkme properties menu)"

Where is that menu?

Anyone else had this problem?

not everyone has to delete their internet settings for this to work :)

and you can lift the baud rate :)

try it :)

The most important thing is that you have to restart the phone everytime you do this !!
