I have a SE HCB-700 carkit that I have used successfully with my K700i and my girlfriends K750i.

I got my W800i yesterday and successfully connected to my car kit, but after 30 seconds, the connection was lost!

Why am I losing my connection? : dnt know

You might try setting the power save option in bluetooth on your phone, the one where it says you can only use this phone with ONE BT device AT A TIME.

This worked when I had similar trouble.

Don't worry though you can still pair your phone to loads of devices, only use it exclusivly with one BT at a time.

Hope this makes sense.

Joe.

It makes total sense mate... thanks for your reply.

However, I did have the phone on Power Save mode to start with. I changed it back to Power Save off to see if it would make any difference but it doesn't.

A car kit installer did hear that the K750i and W800i phones have problems sustaining a connection with bluetooth carkits.

I phoned O2 and told them about the problem... they are sending me out a replacement phone. Not sure that will make any difference though!

My firmware version is R1N035 which I believe is pretty up to date.

Tried the firmware update, but it does not allow me to update the phone... error message below.

Your device is not permitted to use this service
// //We look forward to assisting you again soon.
Thank you for using the Sony Ericsson Update Service!"); else document.write("Please try again. If the problem persists, please contact support."); //]]>Your operator does not approve the use of this service with this device.

Should I unlock (de-restrict) the phone and try it again?

I don't think you'll need to un-restrict the phone in order to update to R1NA005, something else is getting in the way, I got messages like that on the D750i at first.
It is probably a good move to try to get the new firmware.
I would defineately be asking SE about this, as both devices are made by them. If anyone has come across this before and cured it they will know.

Joe.
