How powerful are our phones (w800/k750) when it comes to games. Are the games comparable to the old 8 bit 16 bit or (dare i ask) 32 bit consoles. ie sega/nes, megadrive/snes, playstation and if so which one. Or even just compared to gameboy advance.: dnt know

Cheers

Kevin

oh yeah and where do you get decent games i cant find them anywhere. Please pm a link to avoid webmaster getting annoyed

As for your question...
moilesphones of today are better than old 8 bit... the phones have 3d engines...Just look at Fishlabs Motoraver...The only thing is that the screen is so small

and PhenixBurn... He did not ask where to get FREE games, (although i think that was what he meant) he asked where to get games..
You are on people like a Pitbull, calm down my friend

Yeah true, but when he said PM not to annoy webmaster it kinda made me think he meant free games. I acknowledge that he read the rules but was making it clear that you can't do via PM either in case of a mix-up

I want to react on the question...

I think when it ocmes to graphics it is not comparable with a console... you see: 2d games look like crap ( about as good as a 8bit sytem, or else worse... ) but now we get "but the phone has a 3d engine" Yeah it has but lets dont talk bout the quality of 3d games... And besides: a 16bit console has also no 3d graphs, but it looks better for sure !

But there is another, much stronger point: the gameplay ! even on a 2bit gameboy ( first big one ) you have a better gameplay as on every SE phone, or actually any phone ( except for the N-Gage ) just cus you can play with 2 hands...

Hope this helps.

yup!
good point with gameplay and two hands.
hadn't thought of it like that.

they should programme games to allow keyboard buttons to be used that would enable it to go 2 handed. imagine mario on our w800? that would be amazing

in fact if the games were played horizontally(with screen on left of keyboard) we could use the joystick as directional button and a keyboard button for fire/jump. Instead of looking above controls as with gameboy we would lokk at the screen to the side- not a huge leap of imagination!

maybe i'm being a bit ambitious!

Well if you look at the design on the S700S710 and the W550/W600 then if you put the swivel keypad on a 90 degree angle then you get "the ultimate gaming experience" according to SE website.
My point? If you want a gaming phone, buy a Nokia N-Gage or try the S700/S710 or W550/W600 ;)

True, but I believe that it was made for the x6xx phones and the K500/K700 phones?

Hehe :D
I find some on ebay, I'll have a look at the dimensions, Z800 buttons are alot bigger then those of x6xx and K500/K700.
Maybe no problem on a K750 though ;)

EDIT: Found a gameboard, it's for the x6xx phones, details HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-SONY-ERICSSON-GENUINE-GAMEBOARD-CAMERA-FLASH_W0QQitemZ6429167840QQcategoryZ14410QQtcZphot oQQcmdZViewItem)

i don't want a "gaming phone". i want a w800- but if its can play games as well as its many other functionalities then i am not going to turn down the chance to check them out and see what its capable of doing.

Thats why i asked the question on a w800 forum.

So......................anyone else know?

Maybe look around for the game board and see if it's compatible with your W800, or email SE and see if it is ;)

The gameboard is not compatible with W800 or any other new SE phone.
For starters they changed the connector socket/plug on the new generations og phones. If you could plug it in, the phone would not recognise it as a gameboard.

I used to own a z600 and I bought a gameboard for it which I only used once. The buttons were unresponsive and most games became unplayable.

@terjef
But the W800/K750 are the only ones with the new fast port. Why wouldn't it work with a K700, S700 or Z800 for example?

I believe that for a gameboard to work you need to connect it to a phone which recognices it for what it is. I don't think that K700/Z800/S700 have the firmware to do this.

As I'm guessing, you might want to check this issue with SE support.
