i dont really want to buy it if i cant get it working but i would love to play mario on my k750i

friend I must say if you are not using a SybianOS mobile (nokia probably) you may not run the emulator it says another java version but as we now java can be very slow and can cause crashes, but I hope it runs well and they make a GameBoy (clasic black and with) and/or GBColour emulators also as these are handheld consoles their games looks much better on mobile than tv console new :)

also I mailed them about emulator if it will work on W800 and K750 it would be great to play console rpg on mobile ^_^

get the j2me version from vampent

and follow the readme file it contains :)

note not all nes roms work but remember its a time limited demo :(

I just tried it on my W800i.
Works great!
Between 101 and 83 FPS on the included demo test.

vnes works great on w800 with between 50-70 fps ,I tried demo rom and my zelda rom only con is vnes j2me java version I mean has no sound, they may add it later releases but even ,it can lower the fps 30> fps is great for emulation, so you can buy now and play your roms now without sound until its added or you can wait for sound feature, also some roms may not work because I guess demo version has a limit on rom files like 100k< so retail version should have the full fetures :)

it doesn't work on my w800 :( i've copyed mega man 2 in the rom dir and runned makejar.exe and copyed this (vnes.jar) 2 my other map on the mem card from the w800 and then installed it in games
then it opens but it won't open a rom :S :(

on my W550, i've setup so i can play horizontaly... as you know w550 has some buttons that can be used especialy for gaming (A and B buttons ...cute and verry discrete)... i played Super Mario Bros ... framerate was ok (i can play Worms 3D with no problems, why the heck should'nt vNES work great,right? :) ).But... i really would like it better if there was a GAMEBOY emulator for java,since TV games are verry crappy looking on mobile phones... really, dont even bother toomuch , you wont like it :) (even my phone,that has a big screen, its just verry difficult to play Mario for example... verry small characters... corrupted graphics etc.).

People remember, the DEMO rom its not verry graphical sophisticated, so its normal you had a high framerate.Try Super Mario Bros. 3 and see what i mean (funny thing is, when i set-up my "rate" to 4 [default is 5] , it went smooth and without lag on the controlls.it seemed faster too... )
... Hope someone makes a walkman phone with Symbian OS soon... it would be cool to have a similar phone as W550 but with symbian,right? RIGHT?! RIIIIGHHHTTT?!?!?!? say yes please :)

Same here.. I can install it and start the program.. but as I get to the main menu I'm king of locked in and need to force-shutdown the program as nothing happens when I click "play", "activate" or "exit" .. :/

what tha f... is this meaning?? This is vNes J2ME 1.2 for mobiles that don't support network.

Because J2ME cannot access resource outside JAR, we must build ROM files into JAR. Use this tool as you wish.

1. List your ROM files in package.txt. Don't add ".nes"
2. Copy your ROM files to directory "roms". Make sure they all ends with .nes
3. Run makejar.bat, you will get vnes.jar
4. Send vnes.jar to mobiles

The readme is pretty much straight forward tbh.. You download the zip, unzip it and put all your roms you want in it, in the "package" directory.. Then open package.txt and list them in there as well (without adding the trailing .nes) and then doubleclick on "makejar.bat" and upload vnes.jar to your mobilephone.. as simple as it can be..

However, for me, on a W810i, it simply refuse to load up properly and none of the options in the main menu works.. :/ Such a shame, I so want my Zelda.. :'(

I loaded the .jar file to my k610, installed it and then when i ran the program at the menu where it says Play, Exit, Activate none of those buttons work when i click on them then it freezes and i have to quit the program from the applications window anyone have any ideas what the problem is? and how to fix it?, i am not sure if its related to this or not but when i load a movie thats mpeg 4 .mp4 to my phone it only plays the audio side of it not the video. Anyone got any ideas how to fix that to?

Hi there supersimon - if you follow the instructions in the previous post then this should resolve the vnes prob - i'm not sure about the video question though - sorry. Hope this helps but post again if you're not sure. :)

Ya, i have been leaving a blank between each game in the text, has anyone else experienced this type of problem? and resolved it

Hi, if you have left a space between each game in package.txt and each name does not include .nes (make sure there is a space after the last one - I found that putting the vnesdemo last ensured that I had done this)

As previously posted (and included in readme file)

4. Send vnes.jar to mobile

This will create the jar file including all the information you have changed. Then it should run without problem (some roms will not run or may have graphic probs but his shoulkd not affect the running of the system or other roms)
