I was just wondering what the consensus is for rintone/mp3 quality? Do you mostly use 128kbps or 64?

most users use either 96 or 128 ..no higher or lower :) (higher does not make much differnece , lower will make a lot of difference in quality) :) , 64 is a little low

I use these settings:
Ringtones: MP3, 64kbps, stereo...I think itīs enough...
Music: MP4 (AAC) similar quality but file size is smaller...

For your information: You canīt use MP4 (AAC) file as a ringtone.

Their is no point using stereo settings in the S700!

Use 112 or 128 kbps and make it mono.
(Mono will also make it smaller size)
Good luck!:)

I donīt think so Anette ;)
You like to listen to mono music in your headphones??

Of course for the ringtone is stereo meaningless....I suppose this is your point so I agree!! : wrshp :

What program are you using to change bitrate?

To Judge's question, try "Easy CD-DA Extractor 7.0" to change the bitrate. The prog also converts mp3's to various different kinds of formats. Very useful. You can download it here:

For ringtones, I use Mono/56kbit/44,1kHz. This ensures small file sizes while still sounding good. Of course, this high compression rate isn't useful with headphones, but for the built-in speaker it is quite sufficient.

No problem Judge.
Also you can use this program, Mp3 Trim, if you are dealing with limited space on your phone. If your just using the mp3's for ringtones, then you only need about 30 secs worth of music. There's no need to waste extra memory on your phone. You can also edit the ringtone's volume in here to make it extremely loud so you can hear your phone in noisy areas.

I think it's up to bitrate not kbps,

i retype the mp3 as dual mono,

so quality changes to better.
