Hey people,

i think read somewhere that there is talk of a sony memory stick release for k750/w800 in the future that will enable expansion up to 4gb.

Has anyone else heard this or is it wishful thinking

Cheers

@kevolution

SanDisk already has a 4GB Memory Stick Pro card available in the market. Its currently priced at 400-500 euros.

doubtfull, they rate it as able to take a 1gb card only, even when 2gb cards are out there...

well i have to say that when someone comes in my shop to buy this really nice phone, i always tell them that it's possible to expand the memory till a maximum of 4 gb...

don't for sure, but i heard it somewhere, so it could be true... :rolleyes:

In March 2005 when the K750i was first introduced, the press release stated the following :

"The K750 can store a sizeable picture library as memory is plentiful and expandable. Featuring an internal 32MB memory, which can hold nearly 100 full size pictures and an external memory slot which accepts Memory Stick Duo up to 2GB, enough for more than 6,000 shots. A 64MB Memory Stick Duo is supplied with the phone."

Although Pro Duo memory stick standard can reach up to the theoritical maximum of 64GB, we are not sure if the K750i has a limitation in supporting Duo pro cards over 2GB. At the time of writing the press release, Sony had not yet announced the 4GB Duo Pro cards.

...If we don't test a 4GB stick on a K750i we will not know.

@LifeIsALoop

The Memory Stick shown above is not a Pro Duo. I also confused the Pro Duo cards with the plain Pro memory sticks:p

Feb. 19, 2005 Sony today announced a leap forward in the Memory Stick® flash media family with the introduction of the 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo™ (High Speed) media, the largest capacity available in the Duo format. (http://news.sel.sony.com/pressrelease/5891)

here refer to this post :) --> http://www.myforum.lasyk.net/showpost.php?p=172392&postcount=28

--> in addition , Pro memory sticks For now are used on Sony digital cameras especially sony digital video recorders .though some sony digital cameras are now using Pro Duo memory stick
--> Pro memory sticks are also almost twice the size (length) compared to Pro duo and Duo memory stick :)

another note that besides Sony , other companies such as Lexar , Sandisk also manufacture the Memory sticks on sonys' behalf an example is this Lexar Memory Stick Pro :
