View Full Version : My K750 has frozen up!

I've had my K750i for about a week now. It's truly a fantastic phone with a superb camera. I have had a couple of problems though. The phone simply freezes on the standby screen (grey screen with just the time showing). This has happened about 3-4 times and completely randomly. The only way to get the thing working again is to remove/replace the battery. I think i'm going to have to get a replacement although it has not happended for a few days now. I use my phone as an alarm clock in the morning but can't use my K750i as I just don't trust it at the moment!
Anyone else had any similar problems?

I've heard other people (on Dutch sites) talk about it. Guess some software bug?? Looks like it happens a lot! (3-4 times in ONE week??) Hope I didn't made a mistake buying this phone so soon... :(

Maybe we should all report it to SE, so they can come up with a solution (new firmware if possible)?

I've read something about new firmware being released at the end of next week...

For those of you who have been around here long enough..
Do you remember the S700i bugs? The first firmware had alot of bugs that are now fixed. Be aware of new updates and they should fix up the bugs :)

My K750i locked up a few times, then died completely during a call. Removing the battery did not help. I could not get it to do anything, and I'd only had it 34 hours! I had to get a replacement, which has been OK - no problems at all.

mine says 05w19.
Mine now freezes at least once or twice a day. Definately need a new phone now, unless there is a firmware update?

my phone just froze up again! Now I have a new problem though. When I re-started my phone it said "inactive sim". hopefully this is temporary & a signal fault! I'm off to bed now so hopefully it'll be alright in the morning. Shame. I had no problems at all with my T610. : dnt know

I have thesame problem, but only when its in my locker at work. I think i freezes when it doesn't have any reception.

Any news on this firmware update??
My phone is on contract with Orange and they are pretty useless when it comes to sorting out these kind of problems. I'd rather sort it out myself if it's just a firmware update required.
PS. My sim problem was totally unconnected to the freezing up problem. It was another cock-up by Orange.

nope but if u do the check to see when its made that will help you, it seems like all the bugs are connected to the 05w19 models
micol
06-06-2005, 06:21 PM
Yep. Mine is the 05w19
Such a common bug. I can't believe this wasn't sorted out before they released the phones!

I got 05w18. It has started to freeze all the time. Go back and get a new one or wait for a new firmware?
jaybro187
06-07-2005, 04:09 PM
up to u, personally id change it cos u dont know if the firmware is related to the bugs, make sure u get 05w20 +, only way to be sure, unless of course anyone knows if any errors are occurin on this version? mine aint so....

Mine is the 05w20 and has no problems at all apart from the fact that i can't get it to send txt delivery reports!! annoying but not the end of the world.
My Mrs though had the same phone at the same time as me and hers is locking up ALL the time (twice a day sometimes!!) have sent it back to o2 who are gonna replace it for us, but they have stopped selling for the time being, and reckon that SE are going to issue a statement about the problem in the next few days!

ok to answer to your probs, is ya ladys same as yours i.e 05w20? or is it lower and also im assuming you are on 02? 02 doesnt support delivery reports yet the phone does, if u was to put a orange sim in it u will get them, its down to the service provider and not always the phones.
Jay
p.s. they is a way u can get delivery reports via 02, u have to place a certain code in front of all ya txt messages, if u search the board you mite find it on here somewhere

! B U G R E P O R T !
-my phone "reboots" to stay in terms everybody knows (shuts down, powers up again -bypassing the PINCODE, and silent too) seen it happen once, while fideling with the main menu.
AARghhh, this happened on my "old" k700i very offen
-so i pissed on i and that killed it for good, not by intention

Mine freezes too. Could someone check their battery? maybe its some connection to the battery.

I've got a replacement phone winging it's way to me today. Should be here by lunchtime so hopefully everything will be OK!
I've just had a look at my battery & it says 05W16! My phone says 05W19. So it could be the phone or it could be the battery. Who knows?
I'll let you all know if I have any problems with my new phone (fingers crossed).

ive checked and course my phone is 05w20 but my battery is 05w17 so im not sure if the battery is related, if those who got probs maybe see if u can get hold of a diff battery like swap it for a day wit ya mate then see if they get any probs and see if u still get the probs, this mite then rule out the battery as the cause of these faults.
Jay
p.s new firmware is up, but im not touchin it cos my phone is all good, those whos aint may wanna go get it.

Well, my replacement phone just turned up after cock-ups yesterday. The only problem is that the date on the phone is 05W19 the same as my faulty phone!!
The battery is 05W17 older than my old battery!
Oh well, I suppose this will see if the date theory really is the reason for freezing phones (although it could be the battery?)
If my new phone still freezes, I'm gonna try the firmware update!

Yes, this phone is very good indeed. I have expierienced the same problem and my supplier have told me that new firmware are coming very soon. A close friend of mine is working at Ericsson as an engineer and he has had this phone for testing for about 3 mnths. He has not the problem, but he can't upgrade mine, but he convince me that this is a minor problem to bee solved.

Well so far so good. I've had my new phone for about 24 hours and it as not frozen up yet! (touch wood).
I checked the firmware and it is "R1A044". I'm not sure if this is the new firmware or not. Perhaps someone could let me know? If it is the old firmware then the manufacture date theory is well and truly out the window.
Cheers.

Great news!
My phone has been working now without any problems whatsoever for over a week! It must have been a bug with the early release phones.
The other good news is that when Orange replaced my phone, I kept the memory card and the USB charger! Orange have not said anything so now I have 2 of each!! (So I should after all the trouble I had with my first phone!).

got my phone 7 days ago..NOT FREEZING in idle mode....
my battery is 05w17 while my phone is 05w22....
im using R1A firmware....
but when im using my mp3 player and take some shots simultaneously and browsing on it...it sometimes hangs up...
is this normal since too much data/command is being requested for the phone to perform? like in pc?
or is this a BUG?
thanks...

well i am able to minimize a aeromission 3D game and browse the pictures and the phone does not hang .......have 25MB internal memory left ........
perhaps the lack of internal memory/RAM slows your phone down , also K750i does not have a processor , but it having a very fast speed (changing themes) is great when compared to the T630 (k750i - <10secs , T630 < 2mins :p :p :p)
FW : R1J
i'll try using mediaplayer and browsing pictures at the same time :)
Have A niCe daY :)
