I'm so excited, looks like i'm getting the K750i after all... found a great deal!
BUT... last week I got this in my mail from Mobile-review.com (not sure what a CCD-matrix exactly is... :o ):

Sony Ericsson K750i gets CCD-matrix [ 12:16 ]

Author: Eldar Murtazin

(...)
All produced models and the models in retail will have a CMOS-sensor, that’s true also for the handsets, which will be produced till July presumably. From August on the camera module will be replaced, there will be some other improvements:
- Better auto focus under poor light conditions
- Higher detailing of items within 5 meters distance compared with the CMOS-module
- Another image processing algorithm, saturated colors
- Better implementation of image processing from macro mode
- Slightly longer time to save images
- Power consumption up by some 5-10%
- Other lenses for the new matrix

The new CCD-module looks the same, you can hardly see the difference with your eye naked. The company will try not to focus on the improved camera in the K750i, at least until all released models will be sold. Then the inscription informing about the CCD camera will appear in promo materials, as well as on the shell. It will happen approximately on the Christmas sales.
(...)As we’ve said many times, it’s not always right to buy a phone at first sales days. Sometimes the manufacturer improves some components, as it happened in this case. (....)

So what do you think? Should I wait till Christmas? (!!)

I hope this happens with W800i :D
Yes you should wait, you will see the difference on a computer screen I think..

I heard that there is a update up coming for K750i which improves all that o_o
Well I didn't understand how an update can improve so much, but..

Well..damn.

yes ...some said that the K750i camera lens will be changed from CMOS to CCD ...... ...but the problem is , this might just be another rumour .....thus it might/might not happen after all ........best answer is to Email SE about it , though their Customer service might not even know what you are requesting of them

Have A NICe Day :)

thanks for your replies!
sorry guys, who've already bought their K750i, but as Mr.ASAP said, it MAY be another rumour. Not even going to take my chance of trying to call SE but this is a good excuse to just be impulsive and finally go for it! (i guess... :o )

Hi
I kinda dabble a wee bit in digital photography... Now it's true that CCD has generally replaced CMOS in this field but don't lose sight of the fact that we are talking about a ohone here ... albeit, a damn fine one : wrshp :

As stated, you'd be hard pushed to notice a great difference in quality by the naked eye. You gain some improvements when uploading to your PC and editing with Photoshop, for example. However, I've printed off photos from my 750i with no prior manipulation and, using the correct settings at the time, this phone produces remarkably well balanced images. There's general talk of blurring around the edges and 'barreling' of the image ... well, you can get that even with a £200+ digital camera!!

There is a site on the net (sorry, can't remember the addy) that had some professional photographers go out and use the 750i with some astonishing results. If I remember/find the site again, I'll post its addy here.

IMHO, for a quick to work point'n'shoot WITH autofocus, no-one can touch the K750i ... :D : SE : :D

I hope this helps ...

@Elaine
Hey, glad to be of service - enjoy when you get it and I'll try and find that site ;)
