Under normal circumstances, there should be NO problems on mobile phones as far as text messaging is concerned. It seems that the problem you described is with the service provider and not the phone.

yeah that is a way (but expensive way) of finding out if it dont work. 02 and recent sony ericsson phones aint best of mates. u can read up on it in the s700 and k700 forum under troubleshooting i believe. its a massive prob they had DAMM IT it got me goin.
the thing wit the prob too its off and on so its hard to show especially technicians or someone.

it is down to the service provider thats why i asked if anyone had probs wit this phone thru the 02 service provider. the error is down to the software incompatibility with the phone and 02. trust me ive had many arguements wit them. i had 5 diff k700i's and 3 s700i's and all the same. i wondered if the same prob was with this phone at all, or maybe if bought via sony ericsson it didnt have the errors.

In my opinion, an original SE software phone should not have any problems. Looks to me like the problem is the O2 customizations.

My opinion is based solely on logic.

Logically speaking, most, if not all GSM systems are practically the same. This is how we can get messages across various networks. Therefore, all GSM phones capable of SMS should be compatible with the world-standard of GSM communication. Hence, phone manufacturers also have to make sure of this, right ?

Unless the service provider messes around with the phone's basic communication software, then this is where most problems start to happen. Therefore, I believe that if you use a standard phone with the default SE software installed in it, then this should work well with ANY system and service provider.

Cheers !!!

ok so what u sayin is not to upgrade from 02 but to buy it sim free from the sony ericsson website? i was thinkin of that cost me a bit but mite be worth the extra money for it

Yup, that's what I am suggesting. It seems like no one is compalining of the same problem when they use a SIM-free SE phone.

Cheers !!!

Always had new SE phones, always been with o2. Never a problem here, I guess you're unlucky :)

I've heard that O2 may have recalled unsold stock in order to update the software with a fix surrounding text/mms....personally i've an o2 phone and it works fine...couple of the minor bugs which other people suffer are present but nothing i would call a deal-breaker

tut tut tut i hate 02 so much, i got mine unbranded in the end and i seem not to have this prob nor do i have any other probs that everyone has, software upgrades by 02 do not work so if they offer u it throw it hard in their face make sure the corner connects. i was told prior to the software upgrade that 1-50 phones it doesnt fix then when i picked it up they then told me again but said 1-20 phones hmmm i thought and low and behold mine didnt fix nuthin. im not a betting man but i fancied my chances of finally havin a workin phone. O2 are god damm liers !

To aviod all probs get it unbranded and the 05w20 +

I have had these problems. k700 wa sreplaced by a s700 and O2 stopped providing both because of the error. Your messages go blank for ages, no voice messages, no text messages etc and then all appear at once. I'm hoping the k750 is significantly different...

You can contact O2 if you like, they'll confirm...

o2 are good because they dont use branded phones! the k700 didn't even have like o2 online were the wap button is!
