K750 mini review:
Having played with my new K750 now for 2 days its time for a small review. Ill mainly use my k700 as comparison.
First impression when unpacking the phone is very good, buildquality looks and feels excellent. Design is subjective but I think that most will agree once they have the phone in their hands that design is very good. Personally I think its beautifull.
Ergonomy are better than on K700, screen and keypad has been moved up closer to the top which give a more comfortable use of the keypad. At the same time the keypad itself has been improved, keys are lifted slightly from the phone and surface of keys are flat instead of curved like the K700 keypad. Keys also feel more solid and gone are the jibbery of the K700 keypad. Keys have a very good "feel" when pressed. All in all a big improvement from K700.
Dimensions and the material of the phone also feels very nice in the hand. No sharp corners and overall the phone feels solid build. Very nice.
Screen is very good, allthough I dont find it significantly better than K700. It has more colors which gives a good colorsaturation and colorblend, and it is very bright, but atleast on my sample the contrast/gamma seems a litle to light compared to my K700 which almost makes my K700 look sharper. A new feature is the ability to adjust brightness between 50-100%, but I would have liked to also be able to adjust contrast in order to lower the overall gammalevel a bit. Compared to my K700 I will need to take the gammalevel into consideration when creating themes. I know there are differences in screen contrast from phone to phone so this may only be the case of my particular phone.
Camera almost speaks for itself if one looks at the many pictures thats popping up many places, the 2mp autofocus cam works very good. The Autofocus works, it has a very good macromode which is new, photolight has been improved and now has two leds, and even low light pictures comes out far better than we have ever seen on S//E cams before. One small annoying thing is that after you have taken a picture, it shows the picture and before you can take the next picture you have to select the menu and then select "take another picture" - thats an extra keypress added compared to the K700. A litle thing but something I noticed.
The cameraprotector and the camerabutton on the back works great and gives a really good feeling like a real camera. Hold the phone horisontical, slide the protector to the side and its ready for immediate action, and the placement of the camerabutton precisly at your right finger really makes it feel like a real camera.
picturesamples here (resized to smaller resolution because of webserverlimitations but still gives a good idea of quality):

Videocamera has also been improved. It still records video at 176x144 pixels in mp4 but the bitrate used when recording video has been increased and now automatically adapts bitrate to what is needed depending on complexity. K700 typically recorded in 60-65kbit/s, but the K750 will record in anything between 100-200kbit/s which gives a very good clean recording.
Heres a very small sample:

Videoplayback is very smooth, atleast as good as on k700, but now you can choose full screen horisontical playback from the mediaplayer, which is a great feature. Naturally it still supports mp4 with aac thus keeping the high quality standard of videoplayback from the k700.
Soundquality from the onboard speaker has been improved over k700, its louder and crystalclear, and all media sounds great. Even midi sounds better than on k700. The standard headset that comes with the phone are of high quality and possible soundlevel should please even the most demanding (or hard of hearing) people. Radio has been improved with RDS and AFC and reception seemed better than on my k700.
The sms storage has been increased and it now holds 210 sms compared to the 100 on K700 and the 150 on N6230. Besides the 210 sms it has a separate storage for 100 mms.
And yes, you can now assign any ringtone as sms messagetone, both midi, mp3 and mp4
And now mp4 can also be selected for normal ringtones.
The Contact storage has also been increased and now holds 500 contacts with up to 4 numbers in each, for a total of 2000 numbers compared to the max 510 numbers in k700.
With the phone comes a 64mb memorystick duo, that easily plugs into the memoryslot located on the left side of the phone. No need to remove batterycover or anything. Maximum memorystick possible is 4gb, that should keep us busy for some time Free internal memory is 34mb but by deleting preinstalled items it should be possible to get approx 40mb.
Gone are the "hated" connectorcover at the buttom of the K700, and the accessories plugs in very easily in the new fast port. Gone are also the rubber quickshare sticker that fell of so many k700's and are now replaced by a flat one of hard plastic that are sunken into the buttom of the phone where it wont receive any physical pressure. Seems much more natural and solid. I doubt we will hear anymore stories of lost quickshare logos.
Connecting the phone to the computer is a dream, plug in the usb cable that comes with the phone, and let the computer connect to windows update where it automatically finds and installs microsoft certified S//E drivers for removable storage, modem and OBEX transfer. When this is done the memorystick appears as a standard removable drive and transfers to and from the memorystick is at normal usb speed. To browse the folders of the phonememory one needs to install the PC suite.
Theres a new shortcut button just above the joystick, press this once and you are taken to a list of shortcuts where you can assign as many shourtcuts of your own choise as you wish, to almost anything, a function, a mediafile, whatever.
UI looks joyfully familiar to the K700 UI we love, but there are improvement just about everywhere, small enhancements here and there in menus and functions. Better filemanager, more options etc.
UI feel quick and snappy - even with the new nice animations of the menus. And of cource themingability just gets better and better
Havent found a single bug yet, and batteryperformance is as impressive as can be, its now down to 77% after only its first chargecycle and very heavy use the evening yesterday and the entire day today. This will easily last 3 days right out of the box, and even more after a couple of good chargecycles. After those and with less heavy use than I have had today Im sure I will be able to reach a week of normal use.
Cant think of anything else relevant to say about it right now, but please ask if there are specific questions youd liked answered
Naturally I admit I am colored by my preference for S//E phones, but my overall score is 9.5 out of 10. This is as close to a perfect phone for me that I can imagine at this time. S//E perfected every litle detail anyone ever had about the K700 and at a very competitive price I would not hesitate a second recommending this phone to anyone. Everything just feels so right in this phone.
I predict its going to be a hughe succes for S//E.
