I have made some small photos in Photoshop of persons who are listed in my phonebook. I transferred them all to my t610. While those small photos are 1 or 2 kilobytes originally, on my t610 I see them as +/- 30 kilobytes each!!

Anyone knows why? Also are they really 30 kilobytes or is it virtually and thus not taking up space of 30 kb's each?

Q:OK why does the T610 use more space on themes and backrounds then it should?

A: The answer is simple:speed What does this mean?
Jpg files Tar files (.thm) are compressed. On a PC we would not notice the delay when viewing such files but on a T610 with a lot weaker processor a huge delay would be evident in the menus... So the backrounds and picture icons are stored as bmp icons!!!
The result is more space is taken from your memmory.

so if i would take a picture with t610 it would be counted as a bmp filesize and not as a jpg?

unfortunate...

Actually, you are wrong....when the jpg file is sent to the T610, it converts it to a RAW format which allows the phone to open the picture faster and load faster. This however takes up more room, but makes everything faster

I think you have the bitmap idea confused here. The SE image editor only saves it as a bitmap file, but truly sends it as a jpg file.

Good explanation. In most forums, they just say that this is an encryption issue and that's it. It's like saying, "that's how the ball bounces." At least here, Protoman made sense.
