whats a .dm file?

a .dm file is a file format that sony ericsson use, we post in .dm format so the tones will work on vodaone branded k700's, you cannot listen to the file on your PC, but send it to ur phone and it will work fine :D

I use Win XP and i just rename (no need to convert) the dm file, then they work in the computer.
WHY? Perhaps i dont like it, it goes much faster to listen to the song in the computer.

yeah, u can change the extention to .mp3 rather than .dm to play it on your PC, but i dont see the point of playing it on the PC as its made for the phone

Hi i've now read all the tutorials and downloaded sometunes and unzipped them, sent them to my vodafone k700 and everything is ok untill i try to use it as a ringtone and it says "cannot use this filetype" !!! when i look at the files on the phone they have a little key next to them is this preventing there use? also the normal mp3's i have on the phone don't have the key. Any ideas what to try next as i'm completely lost now :(
